MS Project 2010 file cannot be opened - Only created project yesterday

Using MS Project 2010 to create a new project. Have then edited that project using the same version of MS project. Now when I have gone back to open that project I get a message saying that file cannot be opened. I have effectively lost that project.
I have tried opening MS Project in safe mode, and disabling add-ins but still can't access the project. I need to get into this urgently.
I have also checked for Windows updates and applied. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate Edtn, all other office programs ares 2007 versions.
Help!

Have you applied latest SP and CUs (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/office/ee748587) ? Do you experience the same problem with the other mpp files too ?
