problem viewing power point

I just attempted to open a power point that was sent to me via E-Mail and I am see symbols in the place of some of the text. i have never had tis problem before and have other ppt on my laptop that i can view with no problem. any ideas?

Hi,
We need determine the problem cause by .ppt file or PowerPoint program.
If all PowerPoint files in your computer have similar issue, please start PowerPoint in Safe Mode and open the file, if the problem does not appears in Safe Mode, the problem related by 3rd-party Add-in, you can disable them in COM Add-in.
1. Click File menu, click Options > Add-ins, click Go button in the Manage: COM Add-ins.
2. Check if there has any add-ins, clear the checkbox to disable them.
If only the particular file cannot display normally, try to use another computer open the same .ppt file. If you get the same result, the .ppt file may corrupted or causes by file owner.
