    Hi,

can i import users from one domain the sharepoint server is not actually in?

Situation: One DB-Server, one Application / WFE-Server, communicating via SQL-Authentication and both NOT in any domain, they are stand-alone.
    A domain exists, e.g. xyz.com
Now i want the users from xyz.com to login to the portal with their domain-accounts, e.g. xyz.com\username.

Is there a way to import the users without adding the two servers (or one of them) to the AD?

I thought about Foreign Security Principals, but i don´t know if this is the right way...

thanks for your answers in advance...
    regards
    Florian

The two servers can resolve NetBios Domain Name?
    in this case you can:

    1) open Central Admin
    2) go to Shared Service > User Profile and Properties > View Import Connection
    3) click Create New Connection
    4) complete tha data required (they are well explained): you need a domain user for read AD.

Now you can import user from active directory

    regards,

    Francesco.

    Francesco got answer for you.
If you can't resolve NetBios Domain Name, just enter FQN of the domain and IP number of domain controller and you are in biz.

    Hey Francesco and Ivan,

it lasts a little bit, but i found the time to check your answers....i missed the netbios-thing...now it works properly...i imported all user profiles and can see the users from the ms-test domain "litwareinc" in my moss-environment...

the only thing i have to figure out now is how can i configure my portal site (http://intranet) to accept these user-logins... ;-)

so, thanks for your answers...now it´s on me!
    regards
