Cannot grant SharePoint Permissions to large proportion of users in AD.

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone had come across this problem before, and if so, did you find a solution:
We currently have two domains in our AD, an old and new with a trust relationship. We plan to migrate users over the coming year, and decommission the old domain once complete. We’ve also setup a SharePoint 2010 Intranet Portal with access to both domains. When trying to add new users into SP we get a “no exact match…did not resolve” error due to duplicates. Initially the People Picker would return duplicate users, but this was due to the user appearing in both domains.
The people picker issue seems to be resolved, but once selected we still get a duplicate user error in the Grant Permissions page.
Update: we can add some users, although no pattern to who (different OU's etc).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try the following:
Updated the profile import and restarting user profile synchronization server.
Try installing the April 2012 CU. I was having errors in a different context when trying to set a sharepoint group to a target audience on a web part and I got the excat same error message that you had "no exact match…did not resolve"

Hi Brandon - thanks for that! We downloaded and installed the latest CU (July 2012) and it's fixed the problem. We're not sure if its something in the CU or the fact that it forces the upgrade processes.
Definitely a strange one... thanks!
