    Hi,

you should check under the site collection features and activate the corresponding features. Just go on your site collection and press "Site Actions" -> "Site Settings". Go under the site collection features and ensure to activate the features "Workflow" and "Three state workflow". These features will give you the necessary workflows on your site collection.

    Hi,

please ensure that you are checking the site collection features.

The second case could be that you are using the SharePoint 2010 Foundation version. You will not find these features there. (corrected due to comments below)

    Hi,

it should be available. Only if the features are activated in site collection level (not site level). Seems to me strange that these are missing if you activated the features.

    Hello,

I do think upgrading from MOSS 2007 could be the cause. As Patrick suggested, please ensure the workflow feature in site collection feature is activated. If it had been activated, deactivate and then reactive this feature.

If this doesn’t help, try to see whether adding the OOB workflow to the document content type fix your problem.

    Let me know the result.

    Thanks & Regards.

I am also facing the similar problem. I am using Project Server 2010, and recently migrated all the data from project server 2007. In my central administration -> site settings ->workflows i can see Approval workflow but its inactive. and if i go to System Settings -> Manage farm features to activate the Approval workflow, i cant find the workflow in the list.

Is there any thing else i have to do to activate the Approval workflow? Please help?

I am also having the same problem

Windows Sharepoint Foundation 2010 (free version) 14.0.4763.1000

    • Approval Workflow is not listed under Templates when creating a workflow (only Three-Way is)
    • Approval Workflow is not listed under Site Collection Administration -> Features
    • Server is Windows Server 2008 R2 64 bit
    • New SharePoint install (not an upgrade)

I have the same problem.  I have upgraded to 2010 from 2007 using the backup/restore mount-SPContentDatabase route.  None of the Global/Resuable workflows are there.  Seems to be an issue with that site collection. Even if I create a sub-site none of the default workflows are there other than disposition and three-state.  If I create a new site collection everything appears as expected.  Is there a way to recreate those default Global/Resuable workflows?

Have you run the Configuration Wizard again, maybe this would solve things?

Same issue here. Need a solution.

    1. SharePoint 2010 built from SharePoint 2007 DB attachment migration.

    2. "Workflow" feature is activated at site collection level.

    3. "Approval" workflow doesn't show in List or Library. Only "Disposition Approval" and "Three-state" workflows are in the list when creating new workflow.

    4. From "Site Actions" -> "Site Settings" -> "Site Administration" -> "Workflows", the "Approval" status is "Inactive".

    5. Went to Site Collection Settings and in the "Site Collection Features", the "SharePointPoint 2007 Workflows" are not active. I activated it. And in

From "Site Actions" -> "Site Settings" -> "Site Administration" -> "Workflows", the "Approval" status became "Active".

but still, the "Approval Workflow" is not there when createing workflow for list or library.

I don't know if this is the correct place to post it, but after a migration from 2007 I'm experiencing a similar issue with a customize custom workflow (for Project Server 2010).

I can see the feature in Site Collection Features as ACTIVE, but the workflow doesn't appear anywhere.

    Thanks for your help

Hi there same problem here. I de-activated and re-actived the feature on site collection level. And still: I only see the "three state " and the "disposition approval" workflow. (The installation was migrated from SP 2007.)

Update: This article has a possible solution: http://ethan-deng.tech.officelive.com/ApprovalWorkflowMissing.aspx

    I tried the following:

Site Actions -> Site Settings -> Site Collection Features -> (Look for) Workflows -> Activate

This enabled out of the box SharePoint 2010 workflows for me.

I had the same problem with inactive workflows in Sharepoint 2010.  We upgraded from Sharepoint 2003 to Sharepoint 2010.  I just tested this on the test environment, and it works…

From the Site Collection level, I navigated  to Site Actions/Site Settings/Site Administration/Workflows and noticed that Approval, Collect Feedback, and Collect Signatures workflows were inactive

    From Site Actions/Sites Settings/Site Features

    I deactivated the Workflows feature

I activated the Sharepoint 2007 Workflows feature

Then, I re-activated the Workflows feature

I went back in to Site Actions/Site Settings/Site Administration/Workflows and noticed that Approval, Collect Feedback, and Collect Signatures workflows were all active

In my case, it looks like the Sharepoint 2007 Workflow feature needs to be activated before the Workflow feature.

Thanks Kthompson4247 - I've been struggling with this and your solution worked for me.

I had to deactivate both Workflow and 2007 Workflow in Site collection features and then turned on

    1. 2007 Workflow

    2. Workflow

and now my Approval - Sharepoint 2010 workflow template is showing when I add a workflow to a doc library.

    Thanks so much

    I had the same problem.

    1. Click on Site Actions->Site Settings
    2. Select Site Collection Features from Site Collection Administration Section
    3. Activate SharePoint 2007 Workflows and Workflows
    4. Go back to Actions->Site Settings
    5. Select Workflow Settings from Site Administration Section
    6. The Approval Workflow is active now

Thanks, this worked. We have a new installation of Enterprise Sharepoint Server (not the Foundation) and by default the "Activate Sharepoint 2007 Workflow" was not active, which limited my choices to "Disposition Approval" or "Three-State Approval".
