Using SharePoint Server 2010. Search is working. On the defaut search page I have enable search scope dropdown. This works and shows people etc - ie the dfaults.
I have created a new scope which is availanle and is shown as having results. I ca.'t see it in the drop down box.
So after a crawl around I'm expecting to go to site settings and then to the "Search Scopes" link so that I make it available - but there is no such link - and I'm in the top level of the site collection???
Anyone with ideas, or am I being stupid?

You'll need to be a Site Collection Administrator to modify the Search Scopes. If you are, you should be able to click the Site Actions menu, choose Site Settings, and then choose Modify All Site Settings.

Hi. You need to use Search Settings in Site Settings / Site Collection Admministration to connect you search box to a Search Center. Connecting to a Search Center allows you to connect to custom scopes.
Good luck!
