问题 Problem with Workflows not starting Correctly Sometimes

    Hello,

I am running MOSS 2007 and have a InfoPath form, i am using the standart "Approval" Workflow with just one approver with that forms Library.  I have the workflow set to fire off when a new item is created.

Users then click "New" it opens up InfoPath client, we fill out the data, click Save and give it name, it successfully saves it to the Forms Libary, now here is where my problem starts...

Sometimes it will not fire the workflow at all (Rare), most of the times The Standart View in Sharepoint dosn't show the workflow running, the column is blank no "In progress", but when i dig in and go to the "Workflows" Area it show it as Running.  When this happens the E-mails are not sent out to the approvers and Tasks are not created sometimes.

Other times it works perfectly fine, the workflow fires off and everyone get's their emails and life is good.

Anyone know where i can check to see what's going on or how to fix this?  I searched around and din't find much, just about not using the system account to create an item, which we don't.

    Thank you for your help!

    Hi,

Could you please try to create a new Approval workflow to the form library? And then check if the issue can be reproduced.

    Let me know the result.

Can you check if the "SharePoint Timer "Service is running? You can check this in the services control panel.

You might also like to check to see if the process  "OWSTimer.exe" is running..

    Regards,

    James.

    Daniel,

Have you got a chance to look at the workflow history list? It is a hidden list and will contain information about the status of each workflow and the reasons behind their failure(if they failed).

You can find the workflow history list at  http://[servername]/[sitename]/lists/Workflow%20History

You can try just sitename/lists/Workflow%20History if you dont find it at the above path.

It is a hidden list and hence not found under view all site content.

Let me know what you see there and if it does not point to the cause of the issue.

    Hello Nisarg,

it does not give me to much information just that "An error has occured in the <Name of Workflow> Workflow, it is usually from the "system Account" and the Data field is always empty
