I need to create an approval workflow in SharePoint but I do not see an approval workflow template listed under default templates.
when I click on add new workflow only Disposition workflow template is listed.
I have a list with certain columns and a status column. When an itme is uploaded the it should go through a approval process and the status field should be changed to approved or reject. Once the status field is approved a certain Sharepoint group user need to change the date on the list item.
Please let me know how to proceed with teh same.

Can you check the status of the approval workflow? Is it inactive? You can check this in in the Top level site settings of your site collection. It can be found in Site Actions > Site Settings in the Site Administration section via the option Workflows
In the following thread they had the same kind of problem. This was because of an upgrade from Sharepoint Server 2007.
