Deploy Project 2007 with SharePoint 2007
Hello,
I have a question on how to deploy Project 2007 with SharePoint 2007. I was reading a few technotes on the setup thereof, but I'm still unsure how the setup will proceed. We have one server dedicated to SharePoint 2007 (Server 2008). Do we need to install Project 2007 on the same server? Can we install it on a different server? And, if so, how would we integrate Project to work with SharePoint? Here are the articles I've been reading:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc197558(TechNet.10).aspx
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc197479(TechNet.10).aspx
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms454209.aspx
I'm confused with the installation. Do I dedicate one server for Project 2007? And, do I need to also install Project 2007 on the SharePoint Server? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

- you have a Standalone Server for MOSS 2007?
if so, my suggestion is to install Project 2007 on the same server (minus complex, minus administration).
the first link is the right way: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc197558(TechNet.10).aspx

- What are the advantages having Project 2007 on the same server as SharePoint? We want to do the install on another server.
- no other then what i have write in the other post:
- easy administration
- easy architecture (expecially for user account and permission)
Make attention with permission and user account!!

www.sharepointinside.it - I continue to believe that questions on installing Project Server 2007 should go to the Project Server newsgroup (as there is no forum) atmicrosoft.public.project.server where the guys are Project Server specialists.
- I would recommend doing the Project Server on a seperate box if you can. But as Mike stated the Project experts are better equiped to answer the specifics.
Ultimately it depends on your current Sharepoint deployment. In our case we had Enterprise Search, Forms, Integrated SQL Reporting, Excel, etc. We currently have 3 WFE;s, 1 IDX Server and 1 Search Server. We simply placed the Project Server on a WFE and and redeployed the infratstrurce approrpiately.
Project can be very taxing if you actively use it. If this will be just for a few project with minimal to view only use then probably having it on the same server won't matter much.
