    Hi,
I am just wondering can you have Windows Deployment Services-mixed mode in Windows Server 2008?
I have been using mixed mode in 2003, and I want to continue using it in 2008. I heard some people said you cannot use mixed mode in 2008 but only native mode.

    Hello,

Unfortunately, yes, WDS on Windows Server 2008 only support "Native" mode.

Additionally, we do not recommend installing Windows Deployment Services onto new servers in your environment while continuing to maintain the existing RIS servers, as having two dissimilarly configured PXE servers operating on the same network segment can lead to unpredictable results. You can upgrade your mixed mode of WDS server to Windows Server 2008 in some cases.

"There are three modes of operation for Windows Deployment Services in Windows Server 2003: Legacy, Mixed, and Native. Only servers in Native mode can upgrade to Windows Server 2008."

Do not like Microsoft killing the mixed mode of WDS.
I guess I have to run another tftp server.
