    Hi. I have a question.
I have a cluster in Exchange 2003, this cluster is my BackEnd. In Front End I have a Websense to router email internal and external.

My question is, I need configure smartphones to download emails.
Need install Exchange 2003 Front End?
Need install features of Exchange 2003 in BackEnd? Open ports?

Current view email in smartphones by POP3 but I not use POP3.

    I appreciate you support.

    Hi Carlos,

Yes, you need a front-end server in order to use ActiveSync feature of Exchange.

Please make sure you have installed Exchange 2003 SP2. For the detail steps, please refer to the following article:

If you have further detail questions when deploying ActiveSync, please write a new post in our forum and we will be glad to help.

    Thanks,

Is that true?  Do you really need an FE server just because it's running on a cluster?  When the OP referred to his 'BackEnd', I assume that this is only in relation to his router, and not an actual BE Exchange server.
