Thursday, November 12, 2009 10:43 AMHiya,
Can anyone confirm how this is licensed. We have 55 users but only 15 TS CALs, so can anyone of our users use TS as long as only 15 are on at a time, or should they be 'assigned' to specific users (or desktop if using per device).

TS CALs are assigned to a specific device or user. They are not concurrent. For example, if you need all 55 users to logon to your TS at some point (not necessarily at the same time), you would need to purchase 55 TS/RDS CALs under Per User licensing. Under Per Device licensing, you would need to purchase enough licenses to cover the total number of unique devices that users will connect from. For example, if you only have 20 PCs total that your 55 users share, you would only need 20 Per Device TS/RDS CALs. You also need windows server CALs, either Per Device or Per User.
Licensing Remote Desktop Services in Windows Server 2008 R2

Can you offer any advice on how this would work for public RDS session?
So say for instance I have a situation where any of 10 devices in a remote office would be used to access an RDS 2008 R2 server, but those users may also access from home, or in their partners home, or on a phone, tablet or other device on the move. Is there any form of concurrent user licence mode?
