Save As Template is not there after publishing feature activated
Save As Template is not there after publishing feature activated
- Hello All,
I have a publishing site that I need to save as a Template but i can't find this options when going to All SIte Settings.
It strangely disappears when i activate the publishing feature

- Exact, "Save as a Template" is not currently supported for publishing sites. As well, if you install SharePoint Solution Generator (included in VSExtensions), it doesn't let you create site definitions from a publishing site.
There is a workaround to solve this [NOT SUPPORTED]: add _layouts/savetmpl.aspx after the site name. You can also use http://www.codeplex.com/BasicWCMSite as a base publishing site definition

- Several functions that are in other kinds of sites are not in sites based on the Publishing template.
This is presumably one of them.
Perhaps someone who has a Publishing site would be kind enough to confirm this.

- Save Site as Template is only available for sites without publishing infrastructure is not Activated. Still you can save the template from the publishing sites by typing http://<ServerName>:<PortNumber>/<SiteName>/_layouts/savetmpl.aspx.
