Convert linked mailbox to user mailbox Exchange 2010

    Question

  • Hi Everybody,

I have 2 Forest, each one with only one domain.

In my first domain : Domain1    There are Users Account (Accounts Forest) 2003R2

In my second domain : Domain2     There are Exchange Mailboxes (Resources Forest) 2008R2

USER1 is an account from Domain1, and it has a Linked Mailbox on Domain2 (A disabled account will be created in this process).

After that, i would like to migrate all my Users account and computers and Servers from domain1 to domain2, and remove the domain1.

Is it possible to convert the linked mailbox from USER1 domain1 to USER1 domain2 and to keep all permissions/password to connect with files servers etc... ?

    Thanks for your help

  • You should create the users in Domain 2 using ADMT, that will keep the SID. You then should move the mailboxes.

  • What are you trying to achieve?

When you disable a mailbox and connect it again it will connect as User Mailbox.

    Hi Gulab,

I know this link, but in my case I have a user account on my domain1 linked to a mailbox on domain2.  USER1 (DOMAIN1) => Linked mailbox on domain2

After, i would like to convert linked mailbox to USER1 (DOMAIN2). USER1 (DOMAIN2) => Linked mailbox on domain2

I know that i can disable a mailbox and connect it again as User Mailbox, but the SID of USER1 from DOMAIN1 will not be the same than the SID of USER1 (DOMAIN2), is it right ?

That's why I need help about how to do.

    Thanks.
