running a program as a service in windows server 2008 r2

    Question

  • hi,

I am trying to run a application (.exe) as a service on this 2008 r2 server so none has to be logged in for this program to run. I have tried a few differnet things but none seem to work. I was wondering if there is a easy way to do this?

    thanks

  • mhudacko, printback is not a parameter or switch to an sc command. you want to change 'printback=' to 'displayname='

    sc create xerox displayname= "XeroxPrintBack" binpath= "C:\Program Files (x86)\Xerox\Xerox PrintBack\XeroxPrintBack.exe" start= auto

  • Yes as long as service running under user that has privileges to do so, and it also depends on what the actual execuatable 'XeroxPrintBack.exe' is doing in the background.
