Perry joined Microsoft in 1996 leaving behind a career in neutron scattering and solid state physics to work on performance and scalability issues. He has been a long term leader and contributor to Microsoft’s email and server businesses. During recent releases, the Exchange development team under Perry’s leadership has helped redefine email storage, enter the corporate email archiving and compliance business, and engineer Office 365 for increasing scale and lower costs. Perry has a record of making bold decisions, at times in the face of industry skepticism. He thinks as deeply about customer needs as he does about engineering problems, and brings focus where it’s needed despite myriad problems to solve. He is an inspiring leader and is respected across the company for his technical depth and leadership.
