Forum Moderation Guide: Users: User Profiles: Signatures

This page is part of the Moderating Microsoft Forums series.

Forum users can select any signature as long as it does not violate Microsoft policy. Moderators cannot alter a user’s signature, but can prompt a user to change the signature by posting a request in the forum. Moderators should not prompt users to change their signature unless the signature:
  • violates the Terms of Use or Code of Conduct
  • contains a link to a prohibited or inappropriate Web site
  • contains disparaging remarks against Microsoft or another user
  • contains a link to a non-public Web site

Users with an MVP affiliation are asked (but are not required) to append the following text to their signature:

“This forum post is my own opinion and does not necessarily reflect the opinion or view of Microsoft, its employees, or other MVPs.”
