SharePoint is a collection of products and technologies that supports collaboration, enterprise content management, search, business intelligence and more.

The current released version (at the time of editing this article) is SharePoint 2010, which comes in three varieties: -

• SharePoint 2010 Foundation: The new version of Windows SharePoint Services (WSS). This is the free version of SharePoint 2010
• SharePoint 2010 Standard: The first tier licensable version of SharePoint 2010.
• SharePoint 2010 Enterprise: The full edition of SharePoint 2010 with all features included.

Previous versions include Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (MOSS) and Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 (WSS 3.0).  The following versions are available for public download (64-bit only):

• SharePoint 2010 Foundation Download
• SharePoint 2010 Standard / Enterprise Trial Download
• FAST Search Server 2010 for SharePoint trial download (Hyper-V only)

Additionally:

• SharePoint 2010 Products (Beta) Management Pack (for: SharePoint Server 2010, Project Server 2010, Search Server 2010).
• SharePoint Foundation 2010 (Beta) Management Pack.
• FAST Search Server 2010 for SharePoint (Beta) Management Pack.
• Forefront Protection 2010 for SharePoint Beta 2.

Enterpise and Standard Editions contain identical files, but they differ in licensing terms.
