Hey Ed, it works fine for me and nope it doesn't require any special permissions. Don't know if this is an issue on corp net.
Most of the link show site not found, error as shown below. I can't access to exchangeninjas homepage either.

All the content linking to the external page exchangeninjas.com is unavailable, as the site is already dead since ages. I would have expected the content was saved before wiping out the portal.
