PowerShell V3 is the latest version of PowerShell. Currently, PowerShell V3 is at an early stage of development with the Beta recently being released (3/1/2012). Link to the download and direction provided below.

Installing PowerShell V3

For more information on installing PowerShell, see the release notes contained in the dowload. This has detailed steps, but to summaries. 
  1. Download the correct package for your architecture
    • For 64-bit systems, download WINDOWS6.1-KB2506143-x64.MSU
    • For 32-bit systems, download WINDOWS6.1-KB2506143-x32.MSU
  2. Close all Windows PowerShell windows.
  3. Uninstall WMF 3.0 (CTP or Beta), if it is installed.
  4. Run the WINDOWS6.1-KB2506143 MSU file.
