Post-installation steps

After successful installation of StreamInsight, install Microsoft SQL Server Compact to persist metadata or to use checkpointing.

  1. Uninstall all prior versions of SQL Server Compact from Control Panel, Programs and Features.
  2. Install the latest version of SQL Server Compact. You can find the installation file of the required version in the redist folder in the installation directory of StreamInsight, typically C:\Program Files\Microsoft StreamInsight\redist.

Known issues

Refer to the StreamInsight team blog for late-breaking known issues.

  1. StreamInsight requires at least Cumulative Update 4 for Microsoft SQL Server Compact 3.5 Service Pack 2. See above for installation instructions.
StreamInsight does not support SQL Server Compact 4.0. However SQL Server Compact 4.0 can be installed side-by-side with SQL Server Compact 3.5.
  2. The event tracing functionality of the Event Flow Debugger is not supported on Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 (x86 and x64).
  3. If you previously installed StreamInsight in multiple languages on this computer, you also need to install this updated version of StreamInsight for each of those languages. Otherwise, those installations might not be able to display messages in the correct language.
  4. If you uninstall StreamInsight 2.0 after installing StreamInsight 1.2 and 2.0 side-by-side, you have to repair your StreamInsight 1.2 installation in order to capture traces for, or to load traces into, the Event Flow Debugger.
