Can USB device request host to not to selective suspend it? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is there any  way that a USB device can request a host in a Windows 8.1 system to not to selective suspend it.

The scenario is I have a composite device.

    1) Selective suspend is fine in most of scenarios.

    2) But in some specific scenarios it is not acceptable.

So, if the device can tell host not to send selective suspend (i.e. send continuous SOFs) that will solve my issue.

    Appreciate any responses.

  • Hi,

As far as I know, we can disable USB selective suspend setting in Power option Advanced setting.

In addition, you can open Device Manager, then right click the USB device which you want it won’t suspend and choose Properties, if it had the tab called Power Management, you can try to uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” for test.
