Has anyone ran into issues with Biometrics working in 8.1 Enterprise? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have an HP ProBook 4540s, and during the installation of 8.1, it told me I had to uninstalled HP ProtectTools.

Afterward, I re-installed HP Protect Tools and the software runs, but no options to add fingerprints either in Windows or HP software.  I do see my Validity Sensor in Device Manager under Biometrics.  And it is in working order.

Is 8.1 just not there yet??

  • Never mind.  After a full removal of the Validity Sensor drivers, and a re-install of the drivers and HP Protect Tools, all is working well.

  • Hi,

You can also follow the following steps to add fingerprint in Windows 8.1:

    1. Type Fingerprint at the Start screen
    2. Navigate to PC Settings, select Accounts, and select Sign-in options
