change domain name on existing server RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have a sbs 2011 running on domain.com. A new server on a new network has been put in place for domain.com (win server 2016, exchange, ...).

sbs 2011 is moved to another network, behind a new router. It will still be used for file server, BUT

    * not as a mail server,

    * existing mailboxes will still be available (readonly) by client computers.

in sbs network config (assistant), I put a new domain name (domain.fr - domain name taken but no mail server declared for it), to avoid a conflict with existing domain.com. Problem: when opening outlook on client, password for user@domain.com is not recognized anymore. Outlook still uses domain.com. If I drop the mailbox from outlook client, and create a new profile, will the existing mails@domain.com in sbs server be available to user? Or should I reset the domain name to domain.com?
