CMG, CMG Connection Point and Service Connection point sizing assistance RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is there any resource available to size CMG, CMG Connection point and Service Connection point role? We may have around 6500 users who would actively use CMG service out of 40000 total clients.

  • The scaling info is here

One CMG supports one to 16 virtual machine (VM) instances in the Azure cloud service.

Each CMG VM instance supports 6,000 simultaneous client connections. When the CMG is under high load due to more than the supported number of clients, it still handles requests but there may be delay.

  • Thank you for sharing this link Nick. I understand that for high availability I should go for two CMG VMs and two CMG connection points.

Can one of the CMG connection point VMs host the Service connection point?

Which Azure VMs will be fit for the purpose?

As mentioned in the link below, can I use all other site system roles guidance for sizing CMG and CMG connection point VMs?

Site system role CPU (cores) Memory (GB) Disk space (GB)
    Management point 4 8 50
Distribution point 2 8 As required by the operating system and to store content that you deploy
Application Catalog, with the web service and website on the site system computer 4 16 50
Software update point1 8 16 As required by the operating system and to store updates that you deploy
All other site system roles 4 8 50
