BISM Connection to PowerPivot Workbook Error RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I'm attempting to create a BISM connection in SharePoint to PowerPivot workbook that exists in the same farm.  The documentation I'm using to assist is based against Denali CTP3 and is outdated in the RC0 release ('Create a BI Semantic Model Connection to a PowerPivot Workbook').

Error- "An equal sign was expected after index 0 in the connection string."

    Data Source Properties-

    Configuration- SharePoint 2010 SP1, Denali RC0

Notes- I'm able to create a BISM connection to AdventureWorks SSAS in tabular mode

  • Figured it out!

Needed to change the connection string to Data Source='http://denali-rc0/PowerPivot%20Gallery/MyPowerPivotWorkbook.xlsx'

  • Thanks Anthony!

I was having the same problem your solution worked!

MS needs to update the tutorial steps on setting up the RSDS for the sample powerview picnic report to have the Data Source= 'urltobook' format.  They only mention to put the URL of the book in the connection string.

  • Thanks Anthony.

I have the same issue when following the steps - To create a shared data source (RSDS) file to point to the PowerPivot (XLSX) file in http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/6175.aspx
