Renewing SSL cert for MBAM's database server RRS feed

  • Question

  • I was hoping to get some advice if anyone has gone through this process in the past with MBAM. We rolled out MBAM 3 years ago, and our SSL certs came up for renewal. Renewing the IIS cert for the web server was easy, and I've got that part done.

    During MBAM setup, you are given the option to also encrypt the communication to the database server from the web server:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2754259/mbam-and-secure-network-communication

    Choosing the cert happened in the initial MBAM configuration steps, so I'm not sure where all exactly it put/used the cert.

    From what I can tell, it's only in two places:

    * SSRS's Web Service URL

    * SQL Server Configuration Manager \ SQL Server Network Configuration.

    It's easy enough to install my new cert and change it in both of these places, but are these the **only** places that certs are used on MBAM's DB portion?

    Or do I need to re-run the MBAM configuration wizard all over again and let MBAM itself put the new certs in place?

  • Hi, I am in the same situation.

    Can you please share what you did to renew your Web service cert thanks?

    just wondering if after you bind the certificate in IIS you need to run the MBAM server setup again?
