Office Updates via SCCM/Windows Updtaes via Internet RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

Can anyone tell me if its possible to set up your Office Updates via SCCM but still have the normal Win10 OS Updates come via the web?

The issue im having is, we want to test out doing Office Updates via SCCM however when  I turned on the The Software Update role it makes the laptops point to our SCCM Primary site for any updates. Regkeys WUServer and WUStatusServer are created via a local policy and if you delete them they come back

Any info you can give would be a  big help!

  • Hi,

When you install SCCM client and enable software update feature, local policy will be created automatically, if you delete also it will come back once you receive the policy from SCCM server.

Why you want to install OS update from internet?

You can specify updates can download from Microsoft under deployment download settings if the source are not available in local DP.

  • We currently have all our updates working through the web. This is managed via Azure and we have all our groups and everything set up.

So the work is already there and done.

We are still using SCCM for software installations and want to look at using this for office updates as currently this is not being managed by anything and a number of our machines have older versions and arent getting updates.
