LYNC 2010 hybrid deployment support RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We are currently using Microsoft LYNC 2010 on premise. Which is working fine.

We are thinking of moving to office 365 for exchange etc. As we a partners we receive licenses also for LYNC online. I was wondering we have some users in the UK Maylasia etc, we would like them to use the LYNC online features as we here in Australia are on the LYNC on premise. We would eventually all be under the same domain.

ie users paul.surname@abc.onmicrosoft.com would be the username for office 365 login,

If user A was in Au he would connect to the on premise link

If user is in Uk or not setup to au LYNC server he can login to the online LYNC??

  • Lync 2010 has no support for hydrid deployment.

Lync 2013 will be your solution, has it does support Hydrid:

  • Hi,

Lync server 2010 is not support hybrid deployment. Hybrid deployment will be supported by Lync server 2013.

  • This is NOT true anymore. You can integrate an on-premise Lync 2010 environment with Lync Online / Skype for business rather easily. Here is some info - http://www.proweb-solutions.net/blog/how-to-configure-lync-server-2010-hybrid-with-lync-online-skype-for-business/

  • Since Lync 2013 and Lync 2010 are pretty much the same, the blog suggest to use Lync 2013 admin tool and lync 2013 PowerShell CMDLet to achieve Hybrid with Lync 2010.

So it is still not native to Lync 2010.

I would suggest at this point to migrate to Skype For Business Server 2015, has it include all the features of the Hybrid straightin to the Control Panel.

  • Hello JP Breton,

we are currently on LYNC 2010 and dont have LYNC 2013 or newer version for Hybrid.

So, whenever we are trying to migrate a user using Move-CsUser -Identity "User UPN Name" -Target sipfed.online.lync.com, user get migrated but losing all the contacts, favorites and groups. We struggled a lot but not able to carried the contact with migration of user. Does that mean we are getting this issue because we dont have any supported version of LYNC or Skype for Business on-prem?
