Issue accessing MS Orchestrator Webservice RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

We are currently facing issues connecting to MS Orchestrator webservice from outside the server i get an error " The site cant be reached".

This works fine when i access the webservice from within the server using http://MSOrchestratorserver:81/Orchestrator2012/Orchestrator.svc.

What could be checked to fix the issue. Could it be an issue from IIS.

  • Which browser are you using?

    Another test you could run:

    • Create a text file with notepad.exe -> add a line with "test" as content -> name it test.txt and save the file in the folder where the file orchestrator.svc is stored.
    • Open a browser an try "http://MSOrchestratorserver:81/Orchestrator2012/test.txt

You should see the the content of the test.txt

Also try to ping on the servername from outside the server and see if the name of the server is resolved to the IP of the server.

  • Perhaps, (Windows-)Firewall does not permit Inbound Traffic to the Ports 81 and 82....

  • Hi Justin,

    What errors are you receiving?

Have you tried using the FQDN in the URL?

    For example: http://MSOrchestratorserver.domain.com:81/Orchestrator2012/Orchestrator.svc

    Best regards,
    Leon

  • Hi Leon

I get the error "This page cant be displayed". I tried with the complete FQDN and the IP address of the server but get the same error except on the MS Orchestrator server.

  • Do you have any firewalls enabled? Can you access the Web Console? Any HTTP error ID?

  • Hi Andreas

I tried creating the file and it only opens within the server and not outside the server.

  • Hi Stefan

Sorry for the delay in response. It is still not working. I was unable to make the recommended suggestiions on enabling the port since I do not have administrative rights on the servers.

I will try and talk to the network team to understand if they could help me test the connection.

Thanks for your help once again.

  • Thank you so much Stefan it worked for me. I had spinned up a Non Prod environment and tried this in the development environment. After creating an Inbound rule i was able to connect from outside the server.
