  • Is there a optimal mechanism to check / track or restrict actual progress updation in the plan for back / past date

  • The advice is to use timesheet with actual work pushed into the project plans once approved. When you close the past periods, users cannot enter actuals against past periods.

    If you don't use timesheet, you have to do some VBA in MS Project to restrict actual updates.

  • Undoubtedly, timesheets are the preferred updation mechanisms while yet

    1. users report progress on past or old dates

    2. Regional SPOCs updates with consolidated inputs from MSP in connected mode.Can they be restricted as well via VBA. In case so, pls provide steps to enable.

  • For the past periods, Project Server admins have to decide which periods they close/open.

    For the VBA, it is a consequent job, requiring development, test, implementation, etc... You'll find some examples and books on internet.
