How to build a MS Project Schedule using filters? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have got a schedule template with a list of the tasks with links, duration and calendar etc. Now, I have to create the individual project schedule using this template, but not all the tasks are required for every project. Is there a way where I can provide the opportunity to the user where they can answer few questions (for example yes or no) and that will generate a schedule with tasks relevant to their project?

Yes, how many questions you want the user to answer? If it is only a few you could create a VBA macro that has multiple InputBox statements. However, if there are a lot of questions, I would write the macro and include a UserForm so the user could answer all questions at one time.

A series of filters won't help because filters can't modify a plan (i.e. delete select tasks), it can only alter the display to show selected tasks but all tasks will still be in the plan.

    Hope this helps.
