  • Why starting by changing it? I suggest to start working with the default size (50Mo I think).

That being said, if all your projects are 50Mo with 10000 lines, you might be in trouble. But the advice would be to review your scheduling practice before increasing more and more the cache size.

    Hope this helps,

  • With the current limit frequently need to clear the cache as there are issues while opening the project plan as there are error messages as below:

     1. This Project cannot be opened in read-write because a previous check-in for this project is not complete.

     2. Exceed Maximum Cache limit.

     3.  An Internal error occurred. if this problem persists, contact your administrator.

Look for an advise for permanently fixing them up.

Alternatively, also advise for any potential demerits if any in increasing the cache limit

    Thanks

  • Your issue here can be resolved by educating your users on properly checking in the project.   Always use the close project button, or select it from the tab.  DO NOT use the X in the top right to close project.  Try and solve the root cause, rathe than treating the symptom.

  • No issues in increasing the cache size, it will just take more disk space. DO NOT TRASH THE CACHE though: https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/brismith/2011/10/10/project-server-2010-dont-trash-the-cache/
