Was there a change to Microsoft owned URLs to not allow a client.OpenRead? RRS feed

  • Question

  • For my application we use an internet check to see if a user is connected to the internet.

    public static bool InternetCheck()

            {

                try

                {

                    using (var client = new WebClient())

                    {

                        using (client.OpenRead("https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/")

                        {

                            return true;

                        }

                    }

                }

                catch (Exception ex)

                {

                    return false;

                }

            }

    This worked for 6 months with no problems. As far as we know, sometime between 12/17/2019 8:35pm EST and 12/18/2019 at 9:00am EST it stopped allowing this to be an accurate way to check with this url. changing url to google.com works as intended. Does anyone know of anything that would cause this change?

  • Cody Gress,

    It seems pretty obvious this has nothing to do with customizing or programming for Microsoft Project, a project management application, but that is the sole focus of this forum. I suggest you re-post to the following forum:
