RMS/AIP SDK on Mac to protect office files in office-format RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is there a RMS/AIP SDK on Mac that allows protecting of office files so that the protected file can be opened in native Office app itself? E.g., protect a foo.docx into a foo-protected.docx so that foo-protected.docx can be opened in MS Word itself.

I have explored the RMS 4.2 SDK, but this produces a .pfile format, which cannot be consumed by the Office itself (there is instead the RMS sharing app that can consume it).

For comparison, I can manually protect the foo.docx from within Word itself, and the resulting file can still be opened by Word. The resulting file in this case is in CDF format, different from the above pfile format. A way to convert the pfile to CDF format might work as well; is there such a way?
