People App Sync Problem and Log In Redirects RRS feed

  • Question

  • Windows Phone 8.1 Lumia 521 Cyan experienced a hacking attempt. OneDrive requested the password after failing to open. Support said to change the password. (OWA) had different settings afterwards; add ins not downloaded were installed and many email addresses were listed in the safe and blocked senders fields without any entry of the user.

Microsoft account picture does not load on the People app for the phone after a reset. Hyperlinks in OWA email are redirected to the Microsoft log in screen and display a Bad Request message in plain text and all white screen after logging in.

A web search produced advice to adjust the RSA Agent settings in IIS because someone attempted to modify your credentials. This is not an easily executable task for a typical mobile user who does have access to Microsoft's server. What can be done to sync the Microsoft account with the People app correctly and stop the redirects?

    Problem #1

Hyperlinks in the "Favorites" folder of the laptop display the following message when selected "File Download - Security Warning" "Do you want to open this file?" "Name: hyperlinkname_url" "Type: Unknown file type" "From: C:\Users\Name\Favorites" "While files from the internet can be useful, this file type can potentially harm your computer. If you do not trust the source, do not open this software. What's the risk?".

The "Security" tab of each file lists an "Account Unknown (S-1-23-4-5678)" and reappears after deletion. Additionally, the accounts modified the "Changed advanced sharing settings" in the "Network and Sharing Center", turned on network discovery and sharing, displayed a new policy tab in the "Advanced Security Settings" for the file, which permissioned Administrators and Everyone, and linked to a newly created network named "Users" on the computer that was deleted.

Advice to run the fix a corrupt user profile commands (SFC and DISM) did not find errors or help. Lowering or modifying default security settings to accept the file type does not seem logical. Would deleting the network data automatically create new settings or more problems?

    Problem #2

Account "Options" for "Devices" of the Microsoft account and email address for author of this question can not "Find my phone" when the command is selected.

    Problem #3

Laptop "Settings", "Privacy", and "Other Devices" tab lists four "Windows Phone" option to "Let apps use my Windows Phone" and "Let these apps use my Windows Phone" listing "Phone Companion".

Are four "Windows Phone" options installed by default? Should three of them be turned off?

    Problem #4

Office App on the mobile phone lists several documents in the "recent" section that were deleted from the OneDrive or deleted temporary files of files created after the application crashed. Excel Online was used several times to modify nine or ten spreadsheets in order to have the files removed from the "Recent" section, but they still appear in the Office App even after reseting the app.
