Database Mirroring in SQL Server2012 - redo thread RRS feed

  • Question

  • In SQL Server 2008, we were restricted to a single thread redoing operations on secondary for database mirroring. I know in 2012 database mirroring remains for standard, and Availability Groups are added for enterprise.

Question is, is database mirroring still limited to one thread redo in Standard, or has this limitation been dropped? Couldn't find mention of it anywhere in the docs.

    Thanks

  • we didn't do anything to improve/change DBM behavior in SQL 2012.

    So the limitation should remain.

BTW, we're deprecating database mirroring - it's still available in SQL 2012 - but in the future major releases, it will be decommissioned.

  • I am not sure if the information is 100% correct Goden... Mirroring was restricted to a single redo thread in STANDARD EDITION only. Enterprise Edition used parallel redo threads already, at least in KJ (= SQL 2008 R2). So I would very much think that it is the same in Denali...

But I agree, I would also go away from Mirroring and start using AlwaysOn...
