Power BI Map report using Latitude and Longitude RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am creating a map report with about 1000, unique geo locations. Every time I drag and drop the Lats and Longs, it gives me a single point, the average of all the records. I am not sure where I am going wrong. Can you me through it.

  • Hi Nessa,

This is happening because in addition to what you've already done, you need to add a column to the Location area in the Field List. This column would normally contain something like the name of a store or venue.

Here is a map visualisation with the latitude and longitude columns in their respective Field list areas...

Notice how there's a single point on the map because it's an average of all the lat and long values. Here's what it looks like after we introduce a grouping column in the Location area of the Field List...
