SCSM Extending Classes RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am trying to add a new field to the Incident and Change forms. it is the same property onto both.

can this be done with a new (work item class?) generic class management pack?

I have tried and end up with a field that goes blank after a new incident is added (2 management packs used one class one form).

If I create a class using an incident class all is ok in the new incident form.

  • Hi,

did you seal your MPs before importing those?

You can do both - extend the existing Work Items class and also build a new (custom) Work Items class, which inherits the the desired Work Item class and has all the Properties you need. In both cases of course you will have to author the forms - either extend the form (if you are extending the class) or build completely new one.

I like the .PDF that Glen (Xapity, answers here in the forums very often build:

System Center Service Manager – Extending Work Items to Add Custom Properties

It is very detailed and contains step by step instructions on how to do that. Can you please check it out and confirm you did all the steps?

This is also nice and applies also for the new SCSM version of course:

Extending the Service Request Form and Exposing the Request Offering Field in System Center 2012: Service Manager

It is very important to seal your MPs before importing them otherwise they canno be referenced. Can you please confirm that this is the case?

  • Hi,

I would extend each Work Item Class (Incident and Change): https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/Guide-SCSM-Extending-Work-65f29540

More and news about System Center at stillcool.de and sc-orchestartor.eu .

  • Ah yes I have sealed the packs, these are good articles.

Sadly it seems I am missing something when I create the packs using "Custom Work Item" in the authoring studio.

If I use "Other" and extend the Incident Class all is ok.

  • I think I will have to go this way, my ultimate aim was to simplify reporting afterwards.

    Thanks for the help
