  • Similar issue here:
I updated all my virtual servers with a bunch of updates on two Hyper-V hosts. All servers installed all updates as expected and worked fine afterwards. Only the Exchange 2013 mailbox servers on both Hyper-V hosts were basically dead afterwards.

I was able to narrow it down to KB3063109.
As soon as this update is installed my Exchange 2013 CU 13 Mailbox servers are not usable anymore. Other servers were not affected. Also Edge Transport and Client Access Servers are fine.
    Hyper-V host: Windows Server 2012 R2.
    Hyper-V guests: Also Windows Server 2012 R2

I was also trying to install it via "Insert Integration Services Setup Disk" - same issue.

KB3063109 provides Hyper-V integration components relate update. Once this KB has been installed, is there any error message on Exchange? Also, check Event Viewer and make sure if there is any related event has been logged.

  • I have also run into this issue with Exchange 2013.  We have several clients that run Exchange 2013 in VM's on Hyper-V running on Server 2012R2.  We have only attempted this update (KB3063109) on 2 of them so far and both get stuck on reboot with "Getting Windows Ready".  If I wait long enough, it will let me log on but networking is no longer installed/available.  Everything moves very slowly.  Performing a restart produces the same issue.

To recover, booting to Safe Mode with Networking will reverse the failed update and then boot normally with full functionality in Exchange 2013 restored.

Other servers not running Exchange do not have this issue with this update.

This worked for me, too. Thank you very much!
I disabled all Exchange services, installed KB3063109, rebooted, enabled the services again. Worked on all MBX servers.

    Many thanks again!
