Co-management (connection type) RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am in the process of turning on co-management in our enviroment and I have a couple of questions

The devices I have tested, co management have been enabled but the connect type is still: Intranet

Might be a dumb question but how can I get the connection to switch to internet ?

and what access can you grant users you want them to only access only certain Intune functionalities via the Azure portal

  • Just because it is co-managed, it doesn't mean it switches to Internet. If the client can contact a DC or Management Point, then it sets the connection type to Intranet. If its on Intranet, it can still be co-managed.

Intune has built in roles you can look at using https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/intune/fundamentals/role-based-access-control#built-in-roles

  • Hi,

As Nick mentioned, the collection type of clients has nothing to do with co-management, and if you really have internet-based devices, here is the guidance:
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/configmgr/comanage/how-to-prepare-win10

  • Hi,

if for some reason (as we had:)) you want your clients to be internet only, there is a commandline parameter to tag the device as an always internet client, just add CCMALWAYSINF=1.
