Verifying Successful AVIcode BizTalk MP Discovery/Installation RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Hi Forums:

We have just installed the AVIcode 5.7 .NET and BizTalk MP's.  SEviewer is installed. I don't think discovery has run properly, or that the AVIcode agents are properly installed.  We have added two Computer object types to the .NET Application Discovery Group and the .NET Enterprise Agent Deployment Groups

Under Monitoring>AVIcode .NET Applicaitions Monitoring>Monitoring Agent State no agents show up.

Monitoring>AVIcode BizTalk Aplication Monitoring>BizTalk Adapters State is blank

The only view that is populated is the Avicode BizTalk MP> BizTalk Hosts State.

    SEviewer is empty.

    Where should I start troubleshooting?

    Thanks for all your help!

    Ron

  • Additional Info:

We aren't trying to monitor a specific .NET application, we are really using AVIcode to monitor BizTalk.

  • Hi Ron,

Have you seen the steps list below (I assume it may have been gathered just from manual)?

    http://systemscenter.ru/avicodeenterprisedotnetmp2007manual.en/biztalkmp_installworks.htm

Basically here is what you're supposed to perform:

    1. Deploy SCOM 2007 Agents on each application server with BizTalk you want to monitor. Make sure all Agents have no problems with communication to Management Server.

    2. Import AVIcode BizTalk MP through SCOM Console.

    3. Add BizTalk applications servers to both .NET Application Discovery and .NET Enterprise Agent Deployment Groups.

    3. Make sure you see BizTalk hosts under "Monitoring" tab -> "AVIcode BizTalk application monitoring" -> "BizTalk Hosts state view". This will say you that BizTalk services have been discovered on those boxes.

    4. After discovery is done, wait for a while for AVIcode Agent, LobMapper and Integration Kit to be pushed to BizTalk app servers. You can check them installed in Windows Add/Remove and deployment process is also traced in Ops Manager/Intercept logs.

    5. Once AVIcode Agent is in place you can open Intercept Management Console and verify that BizTalk Windows Services are added to monitoring. So you're just to restart those services to apply monitoring.

  • Hi Igor, thank you for your help.  My responses below correspond to your list above:

    1.  This is complete, agents are successfully isntalled

    2.  This is complete

    3a.  This is complete

3b.  The hosts do appear in the BizTalk Hosts state

    4.  I do not have logon rights to the BizTalk servers directly through because they are in a managed cloud.

However, I am able to see the following events which suggest to me that something isn't working properly:

  • Hi Ron,

It looks like the BizTalk apps discovery fails because of lack of permissions for Ops Manager action account. I assume currently you use Default Action Account (i.e. Local System) for BizTalk discoveries (you may check this on "Administration" pane -> "Run As Profiles" ->
"Default Action Account"). Try to add Local System account to "BizTalk Server Operators Group" on all BizTalk servers and restart
System Center Management services there to re-initialize discovery.

When the BizTalk apps are discovered AVIcode Agent should be deployed automatically after some time.

    Hope this will help.
