System Administrator app missing RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have not had System Administrator rights since I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10. Each time I attempt to install a program I'm asked do you want to allow the following program/changes be made to your system. Yes or No, if so type in the administrator password and enter. The yes button/tab is not activated, only the No button/tab. What do I have to do to get system administrator rights?

Answers

  • Hi,

This issue could be caused if your admin privilege got something wrong.

Please do following steps to fix this issue:

    Reboot Windows into safe mode.

In an elevated command prompt, run the following command:

    net user administrator /active:yes

    • Now, type the following command:
      net user administrator password

This will reset the Administrator account's password and make it empty.

    • Reboot and sign in as Administrator.
    • While you are signed in with the Administrator account, type the following command in an elevated command prompt:
      net localgroup Administrators YOUR_USER_NAME /add

This will add your user account into the local "Adminstrators" group.

    • Restart the operating system and sign in with your regular credentials, assuming it is same account you specified above.
