Canon Vista Drivers RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a Canon Pixma MP780 multifunction machine.  Upon upgrading to Vista, the printer, copier, and fax work fine.  However, the scanner freezes up every time.  I have uninstalled all drivers and then reinstalled the MP780 MP Driver Ver. 6.20 (Windows Vista) driver from Canon's website.  Same thing happens every time -- I open the Canon ScanGear Starter application and scan successfully one time.  The second time I scan results in the application and MP780 freezing up.

Anyone have the same problem and solution on how to fix this?

    Thanks a ton,

  • After the Cannon support gave up,I figured out the problem by doing a Google search. In one of the user forums was a entry where someone change the length of the USB cable and it work. I tried going from a 10 USB cable to a 6 foot USB cable and now the Scanner works. Note the printer worked fine with the 10 USB cable. Also the scanner a printer both work fine with the 10 USB before I upgrade to Vista.   Note my system hardware is a Dell XPS 410.
