Unable to Set Syslocale Using DISM RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am trying to set language for non-unicode programs by using Dism /image:C:\test\offline /Set-SysLocale:fr-FR, I have replaced  "C:\test\offline" with path to extracted image of Windows 7. However, I am getting below error.

    Unable to access the image.
Make sure that the image path and the Windows directory for the image exist and you have Read permissions on the folder.

I have never used DISM, so not sure what I am doing wrong here. Can someone please suggest on how can I set syslocale using DISM.

  • The reasons I know for this error include:

    1. typo in path

    2. wrong DISM used (need to use the one in WAIK/ADK, not in system32)

    3. deployment tools command prompt not running elevated

Although, possibility that the image is not in a writable location. I would double check those things, and then check the DISM.log immediately after getting the error.
