Vista 32Bit sporadically cannot authenticate to a W3K domain RRS feed

After installing service pack 1 I have been getting very strange logon issues.  When attempting to log into the Domain on a Windows Vista 32-Bit SP1 OS I appears to log me in with cached creds but still running the login script from the AD domain and trying to apply the group policy. The drive mappings fail (access denied) and I do not have any rights to the domain. Some of the things I have tried....

    1. Taking the computer out of the domain and rejoining
    2. Hard coding the DNS servers into the IPv4 stack (this seemed to work for several days before the problem reappeared after a reboot)

I can log into a VM machine on the same workstation running XP without any problems or from any other computer.  I am not experiencing this issue on any other computers running XP.

Here are some even logs from the workstation and the domain.

Even Name and ID: GroupPolicy 1058
    ***General:***
The processing of Group Policy failed. Windows attempted to read the file \\MyDomain.com\sysvol\MyDomain.com\Policies\{31B2F340-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9}\gpt.ini from a domain controller and was not successful. Group Policy settings may not be applied until this event is resolved. This issue may be transient and could be caused by one or more of the following:
    a) Name Resolution\Network Connectivity to the current domain controller.
    b) File Replication Service Latency (a file created on another domain controller has not replicated to the current domain controller).
    c) The Distributed File System (DFS) client has been disabled.
