How to uninstall Snip and Sketch and disable Screen snip feature on "Action Center" from multiple W10 workstations.

    Question

  • We have an Active Directory Domain Controller setup in our organization. The number of workstations are approximately 300.
There is an urgency to restrict users to take any kind of screen shots by any means. We were successfully able to do that until the new option "Screen snip" at Action Center.

We have to allow the "Action Center" for other reason but have to restrict the users to get the access to "Screen snip" from there. We have to do this centrally from the Domain Controller to ease the load of this task.
We also have to restrict users to use the keyboard shortcut "Windows+Shift+S" as well to get access to this Snip and Sketch tool. We have tried our best but did not find any convenient way for doing that.

Is it possible to uninstall the "Snip and Sketch" by implementing some GPO or by any other ways centrally from Domain Controller?

  • hello,

You may be able to script this using DISM to remove the package

    Something like

    DISM /online /remove-package Microsoft.ScreenSketch_2019.222.408.0_neutral_~_8wekyb3d8bbwe

Use this to list the packages to ensure the name is correct

    DISM /online /get-packages

  • Hi,

Uninstall Snip & Sketch via PowerShell
    1. Run PowerShell with admin rights. To do that, right-click on Start button on the taskbar and then click Windows PowerShell (admin) option.

Click Yes button when you get the UAC prompt.

    2. In the PowerShell window, type Get-AppxPackage and then press Enter key to list out all the apps installed on your PC.

Locate Snip & Sketch app entry and copy its PackageFullName.

    3. Execute the following command to uninstall Screen Sketch:

    Get-AppxPackage PackageFullName | Remove-AppxPackage

In the above command, replace PackageFullName with the actual PackageFullName that you copied in the previous step.

    Or use a third-party tool:
