    i have a 64 bit Vista and also get error code 8024402c.                   I can download when i go onto the site, but OS does not automatically look for updates.  Surely Windows must provide a solution,  I had tried all solution from this forum and they have failed. Windows do something!

    i have 32 bit vista and i'm getting the same error code 8024402c.  the information or help that is provided once the "update failed" window appears is useless.  i've tried to follow their remedies but nothing is working.  i can manually install updates, but i don't know which ones i need.
