Disk boot failure insert the system disk RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi there;
    My son formated his hard drive and installed window 7. Ever since he recieves a script says "disk boot failure insert system disk". I checked the cmos setup and first coudn't find the hard drive nor any other pripherals. When I booted it for the second time, it behaved as if nothing has happened and I thought it was solved but it wasn't so until i discovered that it won't boot at first and I had to shut it down and it would boot from second time. How would I get it to boots right from the first time.

  • Hello,

    My suggestions:

    1.Ensure no CD/DVD or Floppy disks are inserted when attempting to boot.
    2.Unplug any connected USB storage devices. Cameras, Phones and iPods have been known to cause this boot problem as well.
    3.Set the BIOS settings to their default value. Ensure that your system BIOS lists the hard drive as one of the boot devices. In addition, set the boot order in BIOS to allow the hard drive to become the first boot device.
    4.Ensure your hard drive is recognized during system post. If it is not, check your cables and connections.
