DWG Trueview 2008 - deployment issue?

    Question

  •

    When trying to sequence DWG Trueview 2008 with the 4.1 (not sp1) sequencer and having Visual c++ Redist. package locally installed I get the folliwng:

    "This version of DWG TrueView was not installed properly and some features may not run correctly. You should reinstall DWG TrueView immediately to make sure all features are working properly."

    followed by:

    "Unable to load profile file. Some profile information saved in last session may not be restored."
    and also a comment the a .CUI file is not available.

    As I recognize these comments from early issues with DWG Trueview 2007 I am wondering if these simple are deployment issues and how to solve them?

  • I copied accross a new eula into my install directory and re-installed. Worked

    The issue I am finding is working out how to launch DWG from an internetty page, namely sharepoint. When u click *.dwg IE7 attempts to open it. Any ideas? Suggestions where I should start?

    I'm guessing it will be buried somewhere in the reg (most likey IE) and I will have to be adding a new DWORD or the that effect.

    Im not savy or techy so please bare with me.

  • A few months ago, I was asked to sequence Autodesk DWG Trueview 2008, but ended up creating a suite of free Autodesk apps instead (I was trying to avoid licensing issues). I think this suite of consolidated apps still has all the capabilities of what is in TrueView - take a look.  Here's my short & sweet recipe - I had no problems:

    1.      Install Autodesk® Design Review 2008

    2.      Install Autodesk® Design Review Batch Print Plug-in

    3.      Install Autodesk® Design Review JT Import Plug-in

    4.      Install Autodesk® Design Review DGN Import Plug-in

    5.      Install Autodesk® DWF™ Writer 2008

    6.      Install Autodesk® Inventor View v11

    7.      Install Autodesk® Inventor View v11 SP1

    8.      Install Autodesk® Inventor View v11 SP2

    9.      Copy the following files from the Autodesk folder to the <C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Autodesk Design Review>:

    a.      Autodesk® Design Review Batch Print Plug-in README

    b.      Autodesk® Design Review DGN Import Plug-in README

    c.       Autodesk® Design Review JT Import Plug-in README

    10.  Create the ‘Autodesk® Design Review README files’ folder at <C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Autodesk> and add the following shortcuts to the <C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Autodesk Design Review> folder:

    a.      Autodesk® Design Review 2008 README labeled ‘README’

    b.      Autodesk® Design Review Batch Print Plug-in README

    c.       Autodesk® Design Review DGN Import Plug-in README

    d.      Autodesk® Design Review JT Import Plug-in README

  • When I had did my research / downloads early this year, they were. Even Writer allows for viewing, editing & saving individual updates.  I'm not a end-user of this product - I only sequenced the suite & received feedback that everything was working for users that didn't need to create the original files.  If you get different feedback, please let me know.

  • Unfortunately this work-around of deploying other applications in not an answer to the question.

    Is there anyone who succeeded in sequencing DWG Trueview 2008?

    I stumble upon some issues like:

    - Unable to load profile. Some profile information saved in the last session may not be restored.

    - Customization file load failed. File not found: DWGVIEWR.cui

    Also when converting a DWG the app. gives a general exception.

    Can someone help us out?

  • I am having the same problem, also with AutoCad 2008.  Cannot get it to launch even with a Network license.  If you find anything out, let me know!

  • set file type association for .dwg file to your osd file while publishing it and you should be fine.

  • Here is a script for silent-installation of all components (using same products as above, however 2k9 version..)
    Following products need to be downloaded and have their .MSI extracted;
    Autodesk Design Review 2009
    Autodesk Design Review JT Import plugin
    Autodesk Design Review DGN Import Plugin
    Autodesk DWF Writer 2009
    Autodesk Inventor View 2009

    Autodesk Inventor View 2009 SP1
    Autodesk Design Review 2009 SP1

    All setup-files extract the .MSI and other files to a temporary folder in;
    %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temp\

    .DLL-files are from and their respective need is explained in the link aswell:
    http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=12055352&linkID=9338138
    and
    http://dwf.blogs.com/beyond_the_paper/2008/11/disable-help-menu-content.html

    Batch-printing download only has a 2k8 version, but apparently its not needed;
    http://connected.typepad.com/connected/2008/07/batch-printing.html

    Readme-files? Never used them. Feel free to add them to the script

    The last del-command might not work with a localized version of windows. Anyone know the property to get Inventor View to NOT publish a Desktop shortcut?

  • I had exactly this problem with DWG Trueview 2009.  The solution was to take out the Administrator\Local Settings location in the EXCLUSION list of the sequencer before starting.  (Options menu)

    The problem seemed to be caused by MSI not being able to repopulate these files for the user (or admin) when the sequenced TrueView was launched on the client.

    One the sequencer exclusions had been removed the files were correctly captured in the sequence, MSI autorepair did not need to launch and all the errors went away !.  HAPPY DAYS.

    In case you're wondering, I just used the normal setup program and let it do what ever it wanted.  Visual C++ Redist was on the base build.

  • I was having the same issues sequencing both Design Review 2010 and DWG TrueView 2010. I was able to get Design Review sequenced fairly easy, but DWG TrueView was a nightmare. Well, I tried what zukie had suggested, and that did the trick! Thanks for the post zukie, looks like this trick still works.

  • Hello,

    Mind posting the recipe for Design Review 2010?

  • Sure thing

    Design Review 2010

    Before Sequencing

    -         install .NET 3.5 sp1

    -         Visuall C++ 2005 sp1

    -         Visuall C++ 2008  sp1

    -         DirectX 9

    While Sequencing (VFS install, accept all the defaults)

    -         install Design Review 2010

    -         launch app while monitoring

    -         launch app at least once while still monitoring

    -         complete sequencing wizard

    Once complete, follow normal steps for importing into Management Console

    For DWG TrueView 2010 I followed the same steps, installing prereq's prior to sequencing,  and zukie's steps from above.
    I originally wanted to sequence both in the same package, but (1) that didnt work and (2) the package was much to large to work with.

    SIDE NOTE: Make sure you install the prerequisites on the client machine you are testing on. This may sound like an obvious step, but I forgot to do so first couple times I tested the app and needless to say, wasted a lot of time troubleshooting the package.
